In this weeks parsha the final 3 plagues occur. The Jews are commanded to take an animal and prepare it for the Karbon Pesach, they are told to watch it from the 10th of Nissan until the afternoon of the 14th. Right before the final plague the Jews bring the Karbon Pesach.
We made a bed with a lamb tied to it to represent the animal set aside for the Karbon Pesach.
1 – To make the bed we used a simple chocolate cake recipe made in a 9×9 tin.
Chocolate Cake
2 C flour
2 c sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/3 c cocoa
1/2 c oil
1 1/3 c water
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
Add all together and mix well
Pour into greased pan (9×13 or 2 9x9s)
Bake at 350 until a toothpick poked in the center comes out clean
2 C flour
2 c sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/3 c cocoa
1/2 c oil
1 1/3 c water
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
Add all together and mix well

Bake at 350 until a toothpick poked in the center comes out clean
2 – Once the cake has cooled level out the top of the cake and cut it in half. Place the pieces one on top of the other so you have two layers. You may want to trim the sides and corners so it\’s symmetrical. Ice the top, sides and in between.
Peanut butter Icing:
1 8oz tofutti cream cheese
1 c peanut butter
1 Tabs vanilla extract
Beat these ingredients until smooth
Add 1 c confectionery sugar and 1 c whip beat well.

3 – For the blanket, I used an egg free sugar cookie dough so that it could be eaten raw. The blue food coloring does not need to be completely mixed into the dough, leaving swirls adds texture to the “blanket”.
1/2 c margarine
1/2 c shortening
1 c sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 c flour
1 pinch of slat
2 Tbsp water
2 Tbsp orange juice

4 – Roll the dough out and place on the “bed” as a blanket
5 – Add 2 large white marshmallows for pillows and 4 candy sticks as bed posts
6 – For the sheep we made a marshmallow rice krispie treat.
1/4 margarine
7oz marshmallow fluff
5 c rice krispies
Melt margarine and fluff and then mix with rice krispies

7 – Form the rice krispie treats into large ovals
8 – Dip thin pretzel sticks into melted chocolate and stick them into the rice krispie treats as legs, then freeze to harden.
9 – Add a few dots of melted chocolate to a large white chocolate lentil for the eyes and nose of the sheep and attach to the rice krispies treat as a head using a paste made from confectionery sugar and water. You can also add 2 dots for ears to your sheep using this paste.
10 – Attach a lasso candy string to the sheep and the bed
