In Parshas Vayeira Hashem destroys the region of Sedom and sends malachim to help Lot run away. Lot and some of his family are saved, but are told not to look back and view the destruction. As they are leaving the city, Lot\’s wife could not resist and turned back to look. As a punishment she was transformed into a pillar of salt.
