Pharaoh regrets allowing the Jews to leave Eygpt and goes out with his entire army to bring them back. He overtakes them by the Yam Suf where they are trapped. The Jews pray to Hashem and Moshe is commanded to stretch out his stick over the sea and perform a miracle. The water splits leaving a dry path for the Jews to escape. The Egyptians follow right behind them, but the sea closes on them and they are completely destroyed.
To represent this great miracle we made the 2 halves of the sea split with dry land between.

1 – To make the sea we used a basic white cake recipe made in 2 9×9 tins with some blue food coloring (blue combined with a yellow batter makes the cake slightly greenish – you may want to add extra blue to counteract).
White Cake
1/2 c oil
1 1/2 c sugar
2 eggs
2 1/4 c flour
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 c orange juice
1/2 c water
1 tsp vanilla extract
Beat sugar and oil, then add eggs. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt.
Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.

2 – Add a few drops of blue food coloring to any standard white icing to create blue water.
Icing
8oz Frozen Whip
3/4 c confectionery sugar
Whip the whip then add the sugar

3 – Level the cakes and stack them with icing between the layers. Ice around the entire cake including the top and sides.
4 – Use the back of a spoon to create waves and swirls.
5 – Sprinkle blue sugar crystal sprinkles over the top
6 – Cut the cake down the center so you have the 2 halves that are split
7 – Pour chocolate rock candy in between the 2 halves to represent the dry land.
