Parshas Tazria & Metzora – תזריע-מצורע

This week is a double parsha, both of which talk about tzaraas. The parshiyos discuss how the kohen determines if a mark is tzaraas and the steps that need to be taken to purify it.

We made cookies in the shape of people with white spots to indicate tzaraas.

1- We made our standard sugar cookie recipe and used a boy cookie cutter to shape the cookies. (You can really use almost any cookie cutter shape if you don’t have a person. The parsha discusses tzaraas appearing on walls, clothes, and furniture, as well as people, so use whatever cookie cutters you have.)

Sugar Cookies
2 Sticks Margarine
1 c Sugar
3 c Flour
3 tsp Baking powder
2 tsp Vanilla sugar
2 Eggs
Drop Orange Juice
Cream margarine and sugar, then add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Refrigerate dough for about 30 minutes. Roll out and cut shapes. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes.

2- Before the cookies went into the oven we placed several white mini-chocolate lentils all over them to represent the tzaraas. White chocolate chips will work just as well if you don’t have lentils.
